Academic Affairs Comittee

The Academic Affairs Committee is a standing committee of the University Student Senate tasked with overseeing academic excellence at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The Committee is chaired by the Director of Academic Affairs and other student representatives of the Stout Student Association. Academic Affairs Committee is responsible for reviewing existing or future academic policies and propose changes or new policies needed to clarify existing practices to improve the overall student academic experience.

Congressional Committee

The Congressional Committee is the standing committee of the University Student Senate responsible for engaging in legislative outreach. The Congressional Committee frequently reviews proposed local, state, and federal legislation that affect the students of UW-Stout. The Congressional Committee also monitors action from the UW System and the Board of Regents that has a student impact. Finally, the Congressional Committee promotes civic engagement to students through bringing representatives to campus and promoting voting when elections occur. The Congressional Committee is chaired by the Director of Legislative Affairs and is comprised of senators of the Stout Student Association and students at-large. The Congressional Committee is advised by UW-Stout Chief of Staff and Legislative Liaison Kristi Krimpelbein.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council

The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council is the standing committee of the University Student Senate tasked with handling topics of equity, diversity, and inclusion at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The council does this though advocating initiatives that promote a more equitable and inclusive university, and addresses student concerns. The council also serves as a means for representatives of identity-based student organizations to collaborate and plan events and activities, the most notable of which is Diversity Week, an annual event celebrating diversity at UW-Stout each spring. The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council is chaired by the Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and is comprised of senators of the Stout Student Association, representatives of identity-based student organizations, and students at-large.

Organizational Affairs Committee

The Organizational Affairs Committee is the standing committee of the University Student Senate tasked to oversee the student organizations at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The Organizational Affairs Committee does this through developing and managing the student organization recognition process, in which groups of students can form new student organizations, and through managing and enforcing the Student Organization Code of Conduct, which establishes guidelines for student organization conduct. The Organizational Affairs Committee is chaired by the Director of Organizational Affairs and is comprised of senators of the Stout Student Association and students at-large. The Organizational Affairs Committee is advised by the Involvement Center Student Engagement Coordinator Nicole Eastman-Frazier.

Financial Affairs Committee

The Financial Affairs Committee is the standing committee of the University Student Senate tasked with overseeing the allocation of the student allocable segregated fee, which funds the Stout Student Association and 100+ student organizations at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The Financial Affairs Committee does this through developing and applying funding guidelines on what activities and events will be funded and providing their recommendations to the University Student Senate for approval. The Financial Affairs Committee is chaired by the Director of Financial Affairs and is comprised of senators of the Stout Student Association and students at-large. The Financial Affairs Committee is advised by Associate Director of the Memorial Student Center Jennifer Lee.

Sustainability Council

The Sustainability Council is the standing committee of the University Student Senate tasked with promoting environmental sustainability at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and managing the Green Fee, a segregated fee that funds environmentally sustainable projects. The Sustainability Council does this through developing and applying funding guidelines on what projects and activities will be funded through the and providing their recommendations to the University Student Senate for approval. The council also provides recommendations to the University Student Senate on issues of environmentalism. Finally, the council works with environmental student organizations to develop and promote events and activities that relate to environmental sustainability. The Sustainability Council is chaired by the Director of Sustainability and is comprised of senators of the Stout Student Association, representatives of environmental organizations, and students at-large. The Sustainability Council is advised by Sustainability Office Manager Sarah Rykal.

Student Technology Committee

The Student Technology Committee is the standing committee of the University Student Senate tasked with collaborating with the Chief Information Officer to provide recommendations to the University Student Senate and the Chancellor on how to allocate the Student Technology Fee, a 2.5% tuition surcharge. In addition to managing the allocation of the Student Technology Fee, the Student Technology Committee also promotes access to technology and technological innovation at the UW-Stout campus and promotes sensible policies that addresses privacy and security concerns for the university. The Student Technology Committee is chaired by the Director of Information Technology and is comprised of senators of the Stout Student Association and students at-large. The Student Technology Committee is advised by Chief Information Officer Sue Traxler and Campus Card Office Director Grady Richartz.
