Celebrating the queer community and those who contribute to our vibrant life at Stout
Celebrating the queer community and those who contribute to our vibrant life at Stout
UW-Stout has an amazingly vibrant queer community. That does not take shape overnight; it is because of the leadership of queer students and the allyship and advocacy of student organizations, faculty, and staff. The Qubie Awards program is how we recognize contributions from individuals that foster the vibrancy of life on campus.
Each award is meant to celebrate an aspect of the queer community at UW-Stout. All members of the campus community are able to nominate recipients for each of the awards. An awards committee convenes and reviews each nomination.
The Qubie Awards are presented at the annual Qubie Gayla. The Gayla is a night of celebration for award finalists and recipients, but also a night to celebrate the entire queer community.
Award nominations open in the Spring semester, and the Gayla typically takes place in March or April.
Qubie Award nominations open sometime during the Spring semester. Students, faculty, and staff are all encouraged to nominate recipients.
The Qubie Awards Committee, comprised of a representative from the Qube and other student life areas on campus meets to review nominations, select finalists, and choose an award winner.
Finalists for each award are announced publicly (typically 1-3).
Nominees for each award are honored at the awards ceremony, and the recipient for each award is announced.
