Hosting Virtual Meetings and Events

Microsoft Teams

As a UW-Stout Student, you can log in and use all of the features available to you with Microsoft Teams. We also have a variety of tutorials to help you make the most of Microsoft Teams.

Zoom

Zoom is another option we would recommend. Zoom has a basic, free plan that allows for meetings of up to 100 participants for 40 minutes.

Planning Your Virtual or Hybrid Event on CONNECT

Every event needs to go through the CONNECT Approval Process, including virtual events. Here are some tips to help get your event through and noticed by students.

  • Add the word "Virtual" or "Hybrid" to your event title and include "Virtual" in the event tags and for the event destination
  • Add the links to your virtual meeting (Zoom link, Microsoft Teams link, etc) to your event location and in the event description
  • Test your links and equipment ahead of time to make sure things run smoothly before your event starts
  • If you'd like to utilize special equipment (cameras, microphones, etc.) for your hybrid event, reach out to ETC Services *Note that using ETC equipment requires payment*
  • Even with a virtual event, make sure to check in your attendees on CONNECT to keep accurate records
