So, you landed an interview at Career Conference last week. Good for you! š As you prepare, remember this: the interview isn’t just to see if you are a good fit for the company, but if the company is a good fit for you. If you ace the interview, consider the whole picture when evaluating the job offer:
1. Employer: Does the company culture match what you are looking for? Are there opportunities for growth? Did you feel comfortable during the interview? How will your style and your manager’s merge with the organization?
2. Salary & Benefits: Research the labor market information to determine salary and experiences levels using sites like careeronestop.org, salary.com, and Indeed. Evaluate your personal salary requirements. What is your monthly budget? Assess your skills and experience level. Develop a salary range with a high, middle, and low range. Look at all the benefits, not just the salary. Vacation days, flexibility, healthcare, continuing education, and retirement can all add value to the job offer.
3. Position: What is the growth potential in the position? Are your job responsibilities clearly defined? How does the position fit with your short-term and long-term goals? How can the position provide bridges to future opportunities?
Career Coaches are here to help if you need to talk your offer out. You can set up an appointment in Handshake!
