Many students don’t know or understand Black history. Most of America can count the number of Black changemakers and historical figures they may have learned about in school on one hand. The question is, why are most of us limited to this knowledge of Black History? After all, Black history is American history! Black history month exist to continue expanding American education and this keynote presentation was created to do just that.
By using the art of storytelling and relatability, Eboné creates a unique way of exploring Black historical figures, experiences, and important events that have shaped our past and present. It’s time to go beyond the Black history basics because knowing the past, helps open the doors to the future.
BDP welcomes Jamie Jacobsen, a 23 year-old native from Chicago’s south side, is as gritty & stubborn as her roots would suggest, and her thoughtful blend of commercial-ready, groove-oriented, indie-alt pop reflects an existential mind who’s not used to thinking inside boxes. But her tendency to keep a tongue-in-cheek songwriting approach keeps her every bit relatable.
