Mental Health Tips—Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness month. We use this month to decrease the stigma around mental health, provide support, and educate others on mental health.

Here are some ways that you can get involved during Mental Health Awareness Month:

  • Talk to others. The best way we can end the stigma of mental health is to make it a part of our day-to-day conversations. By sharing an emotional or vulnerable experience with a friend or loved one, you are helping to end the stigma surrounding mental health. If someone wants to share with you, remember to listen and validate their experience.
  • Listen to a podcast or TED Talk about mental health. Listening to others discuss mental health allows you to hear and learn about different perspectives and approaches that you may not have thought about before.
  • Ask questions. If you have questions about how you are being impacted mentally, ask a counselor or another professional to help you understand you better.
