We know that things are starting to pick up as we near the 25% point of the semester so we'll keep it short and sweet this week. We have some new Global Involvement opportunities-- remember, you can also volunteer for the sake of volunteering(!); reminders about tuition payments (due October 14!) and some reminders that you may have missed in the earlier weeks of the semester.
If you are in need of Global Involvement Hours for your Spring Scholarship Application, remember that there are recommendations on our StoutCloud page.
Here are a couple of student-led volunteer opportunities that I've seen on CONNECT:
Big Brothers Big Sister of Northwestern Wisconsin is looking for people eager to positively impact a child and improve their community at the same time. Big Brothers are in especially high demand.
For a few hours, a couple times a month, you can give a Little the invaluable gift of your friendship. By simply changing their perspective of what the world can offer, you can literally start changing their life. Play a board game. Make fun crafts. Hit the playground together. Just as your options are unlimited, so is your Little’s potential. But don’t just take it from us. Read our Big Impacts match stories of Bigs & Littles for some amazing stories of what it means to be a role model. And if you still have questions, head over to our FAQs for more answers.
If you are interested, visit the BBBS Volunteer Page and complete the Volunteer Identification Form. A member of the local BBBS team will be in touch with you. *NOTE* BBBS HAS VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES!
What happens if you cannot make a full payment by October 14?
If you are unable to make a full payment by the payment deadline, you will be charged a $75 late fee and every month you will receive a 1% finance charge on your account.
In addition, you will not be able to register for the next semester or request a transcript if your balance is over $500.
Who should you contact if you have questions about your balance or payment options?
If you have not already done so, please download a new copy of your card and remember to carry it with you at all times. To create your account, take the following two steps:
use your last name, Stout ID number and your date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy)
Once in your account, click 'Student Options' and click 'Print ID Card(s)'
If later your lose your card, or require another copy, you can download a pdf here. You will need to login to your account to download your card. Students may download a new pdf as often as needed.
YOU CAN SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE OIE
You already know that the OIE is holding all meetings and appointments virtually this semester. But did you know that you can schedule an appointment on your own? The OIE has a booking app that you can use to schedule an appointment 24/7. Here are some reminders for when you need to make an appointment:
Appointments should be made at least one day in advance. If you schedule an appointment for the same day, we may miss the meeting because we are working on other things. Plan ahead to avoid disappointment!
There is a 'Notes' section on the booking form. Please provide some information about what you need assistance with. This information helps us to prepare for your meeting and also allows us to reach out with information when a meeting isn't exactly required.
The time options are synced with my calendar; if you don't see a time listed, it's because I am otherwise engaged. You'll have to consider a different time or day.
After you make your appointment, we will follow up by sending a link to an MS Teams meeting at your requested time.
