Curtis Cook will be performing virtually for a live audience (and streamed) here at UW Stout.
Curtis Cook hails from sunny Los Angeles where he works as a writer and a standup comedian. You may have seen him throwing up on the set of Vice’s Flophouse, traversing an Ebola checkpoint for Vice News, creating a cringe singularity with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstien in Portlandia, or even his stand-up performances feature on Comedy Central. Most recently he has been writing and working as a correspondent for The Jim Jeffries Show. An alumnus of a liberal arts college, Curtis is excited to showcase his progressive sensibilities through his comedy and his belief that we can “change the world by having long conversations with people we already agree with”.

This fall the Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT) released their first ever annual Bias Incident Report, summarizing incidents reported during the 2019-2020 school year. An annual report will be released every fall semester moving forward.
Additionally, in an effort to be more transparent, BIRT released a one-page Bias Incident Response Protocol to provide the general process followed for most incidents that are reported. We encourage students, faculty and staff to report any incidents of bias they witness or are victim to here at UW-Stout. If you have any questions about reporting bias related concerns or the BIRT visit their webpage or contact the BIRT Chair, Dominique Vargas.

Students are highly encouraged to get the influenza vaccine. Students may get the vaccine in any number of places: a local pharmacy, a medical clinic, or at Student Health Services. Most health insurances will cover the cost of the influenza vaccine. On campus, the cost for the vaccine is $20.00, which is placed on the student account. Residence hall students received an email this week informing them of an influenza clinic on South campus and how they can receive the influenza vaccine. Because flu vaccine quantities may be limited, it is important that you make plans now to get an influenza vaccine as soon as possible.
Q. What can I do to get involved, connected and engaged?
The Involvement Center has created several in-person, virtual, and blended opportunities for students, including meetups, game nights, live music, movies, craft nights, discussion groups, comedians, and more. They have increased the number of offerings to accommodate more students and explored a variety of formats. All upcoming and past events can be found in CONNECT.
UW-Stout University Recreation is also proud to be able to offer many in-person and virtual involvement and engagement opportunities for students to partake in on campus.
Fitness Center and group classes (fee waived for all students this year)
Open recreation space in the Multi-Purpose Room
Intramural Sports
Climbing wall (fee waived for all students this year)
Outdoor equipment rental
As weather gets colder, much of the programming will remain the same; however, reserving spots and signing up for events earlier is suggested, as an increase in participation is expected.
