Subject: Week 11: Updates & Reminders from ISSS

On Thursday, November 12, the Chancellor issued an announcement regarding post-Thanksgiving plans. By now, you no doubt know that all classes will be going virtual beginning Novemebr 30th and through the end of the fall semester. This shift does NOT affect the Spring 2021 semester plans. I strongly encourage you to attend the town hall that the SSA is holding on Wednesday for more information.

SSA is holding a virtual town hall for students this Wednesday, November 18th from 7-8pm on the shift to online instruction after Fall Break. The Chancellor, Dean of Students, Provost, and representatives from University Dining and University Housing will answer your questions about the shift, what it means for the rest of campus operations, and how UW-Stout is responding to COVID-19. Join in and make your voice heard.

REQUESTING A TRAVEL SIGNATURE

In general, we do not recommend traveling currently due to a worldwide increase in positive COVID-19 cases.  While the University has done a great job by taking a series of mitigation efforts, it is important that we remain vigilant and continue to follow recommended CDC travel guidelines and measures to prevent transmission, including washing hands often, avoiding close contact, wearing a mask when around others, covering coughs and sneezes, cleaning and disinfecting, and monitoring your daily health.

If you plan to travel internationally between now and the start of the spring 2021 term, we ask that you take two important steps:

  1. Notify us of your travel plans by completing this form. This form will also be used to complete your travel signature request.

  1. Make an appointment to meet virtually with Danielle Clarizio or Scott Pierson using our Booking App.

If you are planning on traveling within the United States over the Thanksgiving break or Winter Break, we recommend that you carefully consider the need for travel and also evaluate the guidance and information coming out of state governments about quarantine and testing requirements. Some state, local, and territorial governments have requirements, such as requiring people to wear masks and requiring those who recently traveled to stay home for up to 14 days. Check state, territorial, tribal and local public health websites for information before you travel.

CAMPUS CARD SYSTEM WILL BE DOWN 11/17 @8PM

On Tuesday, November 17th at 8:00pm the Campus Card system will be down for an upgrade. You will not be able to use your Stout BlueCard to make purchases including food, printing, and vending machines. EAccounts and the deposit stations on campus will not be available to add money or check balances. Online ordering will also be unavailable. Door access will continue to work so everyone can get into their residence halls and buildings. The outage is expected to last for about 6 hours.

DANIELLE IS LOOKING FOR ORIENTATION VOLUNTEERS!

We are expecting to welcome new students in Spring 2021! All of these students will be required to participate in a 14-day quarantine and I will need your help to welcome and support them during this time. To help keep students occupied during their quarantine, I am stretching orientation to span much of the 14-day period and looking to add some opportunities for social engagement.

If you are able to help, please email Danielle. I am looking for volunteers to help for any amount of time you are available. Danielle will organize a meeting time with all volunteers to discuss ideas and opportunities. Students who assist will receive Global Involvement Hours for their help.
