Backyard Bash Registration is Open

The 2023 Backyard Bash will be Tuesday, September 5th from 5-7PM on the South Lawn outside the MSC. To participate, your org must sign up for a table here. Once you are registered your org will be made a cohost of Involvement's CONNECT event. Please DO NOT make your own Backyard Bash event as it will be denied in the event approval process.

Org Email Access

Each student org has its own uwstout.edu email account. If you aren't sure what your org's email address is, you can go to your CONNECT group's contact information tab under group settings. There are two levels of permission: owners and members.

Owners can do the following:

  • Open the organization email as a second mailbox within their personal webmail account.
  • Modify the member list for this email account. The member list will be any of your other student org members that should have access to the email account.

Members can do the following:

  • Open the organization email as a second mailbox within their personal webmail account.

Officers must be given access to the email before they can open it. For instructions on how to add/remove owners and members go here

For instructions on how to open a shared mailbox go here.

Submit Your Fall Events to CONNECT

You can now create and submit your org events for the 2023-2024 year. All student org meetings and trips must be submitted to CONNECT and go through the event registration approval process. Here are some tips to remember.

Add Your Org Name to the Event Title

When you are creating an event on CONNECT, make sure to add your org's name to the event. Example: Org Name | Weekly Exec Meeting.

Creating a Recurring Event on CONNECT

If you have a recurring event like a weekly meeting or exec meeting, you can create one event on CONNECT and have it repeat as many dates as you need. To do this, click the recurring event settings and then select which dates you'd like the event to repeat.

Event Location Settings on CONNECT

When you are creating an event on CONNECT, make sure to set who can see the event location to everyone. You will need to select this for each event you create as it is not the default option. In this same section when creating an event, make sure to uncheck the to be determined box once you have a confirmed location.

Contracted Speakers/Performers at Events

If your org's event will have a contracted outside speaker or performer, you must follow university contracting procedures. These are included in the event registration process on CONNECT. Events with a contract must be submitted to CONNECT at least four weeks in advance.

Fall Leadership Summit- Save the Date

The Fall Leadership Summit will be Thursday, September 21st from 6-9PM in the MSC. It is mandatory for at least one officer from each org to attend as part of registering your org for the 2023-2024 year, but all officers are encouraged to attend. More information will be coming soon.
