Come on out for the last Open Mic of the semester. As an added bonus BDP (with ETC's help, of course) is planning on setting up a full Karaoke display to really lean into that "destressing before finals" feeling. We are also encouraging y'all to wear the absolute ugliest Christmas sweaters you can find; if you can make Santa cry then you know its the right level of horribleness. Sign ups will begin at 7 and end at 8, and the show will run until 10 or the list runs dry, whichever happens first. As always, please be aware that this student driven event is rated 18+ and there will be no tolerance for bigotry or belittling of folks putting themselves out there on stage. Thanks and hope to see y'all there!
Minnesota based Guytano is made up of brothers Grant and Eddie Hamilton along with Isaac Hesse and Colter Benoit. The band first met in 2010 while attending middle school in Sartell, Minnesota where they began covering punk rock songs eventually finding their own synth-based pop-rock sound behind the songs of the band's Grant Hamilton.

Networking is the single most important thing you can do to support your job search. Setting up a virtual informational interview is a focused conversation with a professional to gain information about an industry or career and to build a network.
HOW WILL AN INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEW BENEFIT YOU?
Learn about current information beyond the knowledge provided in classes
Gain confidence in speaking with professionals in a comparatively low-stress situation
Connections can transform into an opportunity
Opportunity to explore different fields and companies
Make personal connections among management level personnel
Impress people who may be your future referrals
Networking DOs
Be focused and strategic. Target the companies you’re most interested in and seek contacts in those organizations.
Be well-prepared. Research the company and the individual in advance. Have questions prepared.
Keep the conversation going. Ask open-ended questions to gather more information.
Be an active, engaged listener. Listen carefully to the advice and information the person is sharing and take notes as appropriate.
Prepare to share. Think about your personal elevator pitch.
Always send a thank you note. It can make a lasting impression.
Stay in touch periodically. A holiday card with a personal note or even a New Year’s card would be a nice touch.
Networking DON’Ts
Don’t ask for a job. This is about building a relationship, not asking a favor.
Don’t do all the talking. Do more listening than speaking; you want to learn about the company and the functional area of interest.
Don’t be arrogant or disrespectful. This should go without saying!
Don’t stalk the person. If they don’t respond after three attempts, take them off your list.
Don’t monopolize their time. Steer clear of taking more time than specified without asking if they can spare a few more minutes.
Don’t waste their time. If it’s something you could have learned on their website, don’t ask.
