Things to do When You’re Feeling Sad or Lonely…
1. Move your body - The slightest bit of physical activity will help boost your mood and relieve stress. Even a simple walk or stretching is all you need to do.
2. Take care of yourself - Treat yourself to a nice bath, take a nap, and make sure you’re drinking enough water and eating your veggies.
3. Ask for help - Talk to someone you are close to and can confide in about your feelings. Maybe try a friend or family member!
4. Help someone else - Helping someone else with a simple task will not only make them feel better, but can help lift your spirits as well.
5. Journal - Writing your feelings down can help clear your mind and get your thoughts in order. It doesn’t have to be perfect, anything at all is good enough.
6. Watch something funny - Turn on your favorite movie or tv show or watch a funny video on youtube. You could also watch this with a friend or roommate!
7. Listen to music - Avoid the sappy stuff and play some pump up jams to help increase the amount of dopamine in your brain.
8. Ask for advice from an expert - Going to a therapist or counselor can be a great way to cope with feelings of sadness and figure out where these feelings are stemming from.
