Tommy G. Thompson Leadership Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the Tommy G. Thompson Scholarship for the 21-22 academic year.

The Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership offers scholarships to undergraduate students at each of the University of Wisconsin System’s four-year campuses.  Scholarships are intended for undergraduates who have shown public leadership in their lives in a way that reflects the general legacy of Governor Tommy G. Thompson.

 One scholarship award of $2,300 to one student at each of the thirteen University of Wisconsin System will be awarded.    

The application deadline is November 5, 2021.  Learn more about the detailed qualification and application details.

The Journal of Student Research (JSR) is open for submissions for the 2022 edition. The deadline is Oct. 22, 2021. The JSR accepts research work from all academic disciplines and welcomes papers based on a variety of research goals and methodologies.

Disseminating your findings in the Journal is a great way to boost your resume and gives you a competitive edge on your grad school application.

Women in STEM topic of Inside Stout podcast

The latest Inside Stout podcast features Jo Hopp and Laura McCullough, both of the chemistry and physics department, who share their stories as they studied to become physics professors, and their goal to increase diversity and accessibility in the STEM fields, particularly for women.  Inside Stout is UW-Stout’s official universitywide podcast.  The episode and future episodes can be found on the Inside Stout page at Buzzsprout, a podcast platform. Episodes also will be archived on Buzzsprout.  The goal of the podcast is to provide personal, in-depth accounts of life at Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University through the voices of students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university.
