Mid-Autumn Festival Tomorrow

Mid-Autumn Festival (õ©¡þºïþ»Ç) is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 21.  The festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th month in lunar calendar when there is a Full Harvest Moon (full moon closest to the Autumn Equinox). It’s an important day in Chinese society since Tang Dynasty, as we often gather with our family, and celebrate the completeness of our connection as round as the moon (ÒÇîõ║║µ£êÕà®Õ£ÿÕ£ôÒÇì). Given the loss of face-to-face connection in the last 15 months, and especially for those of us whose family members live very far away — across the country or even across oceans — this Mid-Autumn Festival feels particularly bittersweet.

I invite you to look up this night during Mid-Autumn Festival. Enjoy the striking beauty offered by the bright globe in the sky, knowing that your loved ones may also view the same moon wherever they are. If you are so inclined, light a candle or a lantern to decorate the evening. If you’re adventurous, see if you can find a sweet mooncake!
