Named one of New York’s 10 Hottest Comics stand-up comedian, Leighann Lord has appeared on many TV stand-up comedy shows including Lifetime, AspireTV, HBO, and Comedy Central. She’s performed for U. S. troops stationed in Europe, the South Pacific, and the Middle East. Leighann’s comedy album, I’ve Got Connections, is played heavily on Sirius satellite radio. She’s a co-host on the Emmy nominated Star Talk with Neil de Grasse Tyson. As a writer, Leighann is a contributor to the Huffington Post and is the author of Dict Jokes: Alternate Definitions for Words You’ve Probably Never Heard of But Will Definitely Never Forget available on Amazon (Volume One & Two). The Hall of Heroes, on the first floor of the Memorial Student Center is a display that honors 43 UW-Stout students and two staff members who gave their lives in military service to their country. At 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, a Veterans Day ceremony will be held in Huff's Lounge to induct a recently discovered hero. Cpl. Charles V. Cummings, an 1895 graduate of Stout Manual Training School, died in 1898 during the Spanish-American War. The campus community is invited to attend the ceremony to honor and learn more about the life and service of Cummings.

Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, the November Pogroms. Through November 9th and 10th, 1938, German Nazis coordinated a violent attack on Jewish people, homes, and synagogues, culminating in streets littered with broken glass and generational trauma that is still felt to this day.
Join the Involvement Center and Dr. Jacob Hellman for an evening of recognition and honor for those people and those families whose lives were permanently changed beginning that night of November 9th.
We will be enjoying traditional challah bread with your choice of butter, honey, or grape jam, and having intentional discussions on how all of us can do our part to keep nights like Kristallnacht from happening again.

Applications for National Research Conference Closes This Month
Each year the National Conference on Undergraduate Research hosts 4,000 students to share research and creative works in all fields. It will take place at UW-Eau Claire in April 2023, but you must apply to present now. Students can share their work through a poster, speech, gallery exhibit, music/theatre performance, literary reading, film, collaborative art, and more. Learn more here and apply by November 30.
