Blue Devil Productions is proud to present Sohrab Forouzesh on our campus for a free comedy show!
Sohrab Forouzesh is a Chicago comedian/writer who won't take it personally if you say his name wrong. He moved to the U.S from Iran at eight years old, and his material is influenced by his experiences as a fat Persian kid growing up in America. His rapid-fire delivery paired with his down to earth relatability is what makes him a favorite of the Chicago comedy scene. Along with being a finalist for StandUP NBC in 2019, Sohrab also tours colleges and wrote for the sketch show Group Therapy featured on Complex. Sohrab got his start in comedy while attending Western Michigan University where he was a finalist in the TBS National College Comedy Competition.

“You say you’re ‘depressed’ – all I see is resilience. You are allowed to feel messed up and inside out. It doesn’t mean you’re defective – it just means you’re human.” – David Mitchell
At this time of year, students are experiencing a lot of different things as they navigate through their time at college. There is so much happening, from classes to studying, from time with friends to obligations with clubs, to missing home and feeling lonely and isolated at times. And as the weather changes and we head into fall, depression can become a very real factor in student’s lives. Depression is a mental health diagnosis that many people experience. Depression involves having a decreased interest in pleasurable activities, feeling fatigued, feelings of hopelessness, and other symptoms. Depressive symptoms can affect people in different ways and for different amounts of time. Sometimes people get into patterns or habits that may increase depressive symptoms. Here are some tips on how to change up that pattern and combat some of those symptoms.
Going outside – Sometimes by spending time outdoors, we can influence our brain positively and feel better.
Gratitude journaling – focus on the positive things that are happening. It could be as simple as “I’m grateful I have a comfy pillow.”
Exercise – evidence shows that consistent exercise helps lift mood.
Get into a routine – this will help sleep and eating patterns which can be impacted by depression.
Talk to a trusted person – sharing your experience allows you to externally process your emotions, helping you understand you more.
