Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Training
Like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in a suicidal crisis. By learning QPR, you will come to recognize the warning signs, clues, and suicidal communication of people in trouble, and gain skills to act to prevent a possible tragedy.
This training will be available on campus for students on March 4 from 3-4:30 PM in the Oakwood Room of the MSC.

Severe Weather Sirens Testing

The Dunn County 9 1 1 Center and the City of Menomonie test the community's severe weather sirens on the first Monday of the month at 10 AM from April through October. In the event of a real tornado or severe thunderstorm, seek shelter indoors, away from windows, on the lower levels of our buildings.

Quick Pitch competition registration closes April 5

WiSys Quick Pitch is a cash-prize competition open to all majors, undergraduate and graduate students. This research-focused 3-minute pitch competition, which takes place on Research Day (April 29), offers training sessions to learn how to effectively communicate research to a general audience. The Math TLC is NOW HIRING Teaching Assistants for 2024-2025, supporting students in MATH 80, 90 and 120. Minimum qualifications include: 

  • Successful completion of MATH 90 with an A/A- and instructor recommendation  OR  
  • Completion of MATH 118 or higher with at least B+ OR  
  • MPT 4 or higher and concurrent enrollment in calculus

Mental Health Tips—Zen Zone

“The true purpose (of Zen) is to see things as they are, to observe things as they are, and to let everything go as it goes.” – Shunryu Suzuki

The Zen Zone is located on the fourth floor of Bowman Hall (in the Student Counseling Center) and is open to all students and even staff. You do not need to be a client to use it. Just check in with the front desk at the counseling center to let them know you are there.

What is in the Zen Zone?

  • Massage chairs! So relaxing!
  • Light Therapy—Good for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
  • Music
  • Self-Help Books
  • Coloring
  • Comfortable spots to sit

Why should I use the Zen Zone?

  • To de-stress after a difficult day
  •  A safe place to relax
  • A quiet spot to study
  • Read a good book
  • Use one of the massage chairs

When can I use the Zen Zone?

  • The Zen Zone is open Monday-Friday from 8am to 4:30pm
  • The Zen Zone is open for all students to use
  • Only one student at a time is allowed to use the Zen Zone
