Immortal girlfriend perfectly defines what it means to be cinematically sound. Giving their listeners a soundtrack to wherever life takes them. They have been heard on the biggest tv shows worldwide, and on some of the biggest stages in the Midwest. The Bush Brothers pay homage to bands like Depeche mode and The Cure, while unapologetically taking a step forward, redefining Cinematic Synth Pop. The Milwaukee natives not only capture mesmerizing tones, but finish the experience through their breathtaking cinematic videos.

2/14/24

We're only a few weeks into the new semester, which means there are a lot of career-building events coming up that you won't want to miss! You may be thinking: how should I get ready? Here are some tips that will prove helpful, whether you're going to Career Conference, Art & Design Week, or even off-campus events.

How to Prepare

  1. Create/Revise Your Resume – Don’t know where to start? Visit the Career Services website or make an appointment with a Career Coach to get assistance. Already have a resume? Schedule an appointment to get it reviewed. If needed, bring printed copies of your resume to the event you're attending, or add it to your website/LinkedIn profile for easy downloadable access!

  1. Research Employers – If you know that certain companies will be represented, it's worth your time to research them. Visit their websites for information on job openings and qualifications, specific recruitment or professional programs for students, as well as history, size, location and products/services. Most events on Handshake will include which employers are attending. Login to your account to view the event details and company contacts/positions.

  1. Dress for Success – You will make a better impression if you're dressed professionally, rather than in casual clothing. Check out our website for guidance on what to wear. Need some clothes? The Helping Hand Food+ Pantry has a variety of clothing available for FREE. Find it in the basement of the Admin. Building.

During the Event

  1. Be An Active Participant – Maximize your experience. Don't just show up to check it off your to-do list or to get credit for class. Interact professionally with the recruiters and representatives to learn and connect. You may not have time to speak with everyone at the event, so consider your priorities and make sure you make the connections that matter most.

  1. Look & Listen – What questions are other people asking? What answers are they receiving? There's nothing wrong with subtle eavesdropping. You might even pick up valuable information in addition to witnessing some real-life career search “do’s and don’ts."

  1. Take Notes – Write down any important information you receive from employers. Ask for cards from anyone who helped you so that you can spell their names correctly when you follow up.

Now that you've got some pointers, you can step into a career-related event with confidence! If you need further support or have specific questions, meet with a Career Coach. Set up an appointment in Handshake or visit the Career Services office (103 Admin. Bldg.) Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm.

All entries are eligible to win an affirmation plant pot kit to plant and grow, just like you!  Answer survey here!
