Message from Chancellor Katherine Frank

I am writing to remind the UW-Stout community that it still is mandatory to wear a mask on campus, even though the Wisconsin Supreme Court negated Governor Evers’ mask mandate yesterday, March 31st.

The Supreme Court decision has no effect on the mask order I issued on February 17th, 2021. That order may be found here. The order states:

“Face masks or face coverings will be worn by all students, employees and visitors whether indoors or outdoors on campus. Masks are not required when an individual is alone in their office with the door shut or residence hall room; however, they are required when in the presence of others and in common areas (this includes common workspaces, meeting rooms, hallways, restrooms, elevators, and classrooms).”

In addition, I encourage all campus members to use the health and safety practices we know are effective in reducing the spread of the virus when out in the community. We have had a very successful spring semester due to the responsible behavior exhibited by our employees and students. Thank you all for your hard work to keep our campus and community safe and healthy.

In Stout Pride,

Katherine

Routines - How can they benefit you?

For many Stout students, this semester has been different than past. So what tools and tips can help you finish this semester strong? Establishing a routine for ourselves. Review these aspects of your life and ask yourself if you are implementing these things that should continue to be part of your daily routine, even during a pandemic:

  1.  Are you taking a shower or bath on a daily or every other day basis?

  2. Are you grooming your hair, shaving, or brushing your teeth daily?

  3. Are you putting-on clean clothes each day regardless if you see others or not?

  4. Are you leaving your room, house, or apartment at least once a day to get fresh air?

  5. Are you eating in ways which fuel your and give you energy each day?

  6. Are you trying to go to sleep consistently in order to obtain 6-8 hours of sleep?

  7. If you focus on making the questions above a priority at the beginning of each day, it gives you the opportunity to accomplish a number things right away, gets your day off to a good start, and makes you feel good about yourself both physically and emotionally.

  8. Routine provides mental and physical structure throughout our day, helping us to accomplish tasks and focus on being our best.
