We Have Good News!

We are pleased to report that this aftenoon (7/24) we received guidance from SEVP/ICE which provides additional flexibility to the regulations surrounding initial and continuing F-1 visa holders. 

Some of the key takeaways are:

• Students who are on campus this fall will NOT have their records terminated if the campus is forced to switch into a fully online instructional plan. This means that if you are here in the fall, you do not have to worry about compromising your visa status if the institution has to shift. 
• Continuing students who will continue to maintain an active record as as long as full-time enrollment is met (regardless of online or in-person instruction). 
• Students may remain in the United States if they are engaged in a fully online program of study, as long as they maintain full-time enrollment. 
• Students do not require a special remark on their I-20 in order to re-enter the United States. Despite this, the OIE will be issuing I-20s with remarks to all students who will be entering the U.S. as an additional level of support. Students who have already expressed a desire to return to the U.S. will receive an updated document from Danielle early next week. 
• We can continue issuing I-20s electronically, this is positive news as it allows us to issue documents more swiftly during these challenging times.
