WEEK 12: A WELL-DESERVED SHORT WEEK

This newsletter is coming to you a few days early because I want to make sure that you have time to act on some of the Thanksgiving information below.

Whether you will be participating in the holiday traditions or now, we hope you have an enjoyable long weekend and find some time to take a break before the final push to the semester's finish line.

Please note that the OIE will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on November 26-27, 2021. We'll see you again on Monday, November 30!

WHAT IS THANKSGIVING?

If you're not quite sure what Thanksgiving is, you might find this information helpful. Today, Thanksgiving is mostly a holiday that people celebrate with their families where the main event is a large meal, built around a turkey (or sometimes ham). Of course, there is a history to this feast day but it is easy to miss that history less with all the talk of turkey at the holiday. Below are some short videos for those of you interested in learning more about the holiday.

DANIELLE IS LOOKING FOR ORIENTATION VOLUNTEERS!

We are expecting to welcome new students in Spring 2021! All of these students will be required to participate in a 14-day quarantine and I will need your help to welcome and support them during this time. To help keep students occupied during their quarantine, I am stretching orientation to span much of the 14-day period and looking to add some opportunities for social engagement.

If you are able to help, please email Danielle. I am looking for volunteers to help for any amount of time you are available. Danielle will organize a meeting time with all volunteers to discuss ideas and opportunities. Students who assist will receive Global Involvement Hours for their help.

New Student Arrival Dates: January 7-8, 2021
Orientation: January 11-22, 2021
