A well-spent day brings happy sleep—Leonardo da Vinci
Sleep is so important for both our physical and mental health. Think back on the last good sleep you got…did you have a good day? Did you feel refreshed? Were you productive? While a good night’s sleep can help with many things, here are some things you might not have known:
Sleep helps with learning and the formation of long-term memories. Not getting enough sleep can lead to trouble thinking clearly or focusing on tasks.
Long-term, poor sleeping habits can lead to physical concerns such as heart disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure.
Good sleep can help build your immune system. Studies show that those who have a good night’s sleep are less likely to develop cold-like symptoms.
Being well rested can also improve your mood and decrease symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression, and it can help increase motivation.
