Subject: Student Orgs & Post-Break Operations

Greetings Student Org Leaders,

In response to last week’s campus announcement regarding post-break operations, we want to take a few moments to share how this impacts student organizations.

Hosting Events/Meetings/Activities

Student organizations can still host in-person events, meetings and activities as long as they meet the requirements set forth at the start of fall. Student orgs should continue to register all events/meetings/activities via CONNECT whether they are in-person or virtual.

Our buildings will continue to be open our normal hours and we are here to assist with any of your reservation needs. However, if your plans have changed and you no longer need an existing reservation, please contact us as soon as possible to cancel at mscreservations@uwstout.edu.

Whatever your student org decides, please know virtual resources exist for you to maintain that connection with your org. We also ask you to recognize that all members feel differently and some may not be as comfortable meeting in person. Continue to offer options to connect virtually and as always, we can never require students to attend org activities in person.

Reminder: As part of last week’s announcement, the university has NO plans to change its calendar or modality for the Spring Semester. We will be begin accepting requests for spring semester blanket reservations (i.e. your weekly meeting location/time) on Wednesday, December 2nd. Please watch for updates in The Loop on making your spring reservations.

Staying Safe On-Campus & In the Community

While buildings, services, and programs will continue on campus during the period of alternative instruction – we continue to urge students that remain in the Menomonie community to play it safe: Mask-up, back-up, wash-up, and stay within your pod.

If we want to continue our business as usual with student orgs, we also highly recommend utilizing the Surge Testing available at the West Gym of the Sports & Fitness Center*. It is FREE, no symptoms needed, no questions asked, self-administered, and not painfully intrusive. It is about a 15 minute process.

You can test as often as you would like. Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays / 8:00am – 5:00pm & Tuesdays and Thursdays / 11:00am – 7:00pm. Registration info is here: https://www.uwstout.edu/surge-testing.

*Residence Hall students will have their own mandatory testing protocols separate from the Surge Testing.

Thank you to everyone who is helping to maintain a safe campus community. As we’ve mentioned throughout the semester, we have been so impressed with the work you are doing within your student organizations.

As always, feel free to reach out to the Involvement Center with any questions and stay informed with all COVID-19 updates.
