Named one of New York’s 10 Hottest Comics stand-up comedian, Leighann Lord has appeared on many TV stand-up comedy shows including Lifetime, AspireTV, HBO, and Comedy Central. She’s performed for U. S. troops stationed in Europe, the South Pacific, and the Middle East. Leighann’s comedy album, I’ve Got Connections, is played heavily on Sirius satellite radio. She’s a co-host on the Emmy nominated Star Talk with Neil de Grasse Tyson. As a writer, Leighann is a contributor to the Huffington Post and is the author of Dict Jokes: Alternate Definitions for Words You’ve Probably Never Heard of But Will Definitely Never Forget available on Amazon (Volume One & Two).

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services and UW-Stout are hosting a vaccination clinic for UW-Stout students, staff, and their families. Anyone 12 and over can come to the clinic. Minors must be accompanied by a parent. Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be available. 1st, 2nd, and booster doses will be available. The boosters available will be the Omicron (bivalent) boosters.
There is no cost and no insurance information is needed. Walk-ins are welcome. Clinic will be in Ballroom C at the Memorial Student Center

The Hall of Heroes, on the first floor of the Memorial Student Center is a display that honors 43 UW-Stout students and two staff members who gave their lives in military service to their country. At 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, a Veterans Day ceremony will be held in Huff's Lounge to induct a recently discovered hero. Cpl. Charles V. Cummings, an 1895 graduate of Stout Manual Training School, died in 1898 during the Spanish-American War. The campus community is invited to attend the ceremony to honor and learn more about the life and service of Cummings.

The Stout Impact Project believes in the power of giving to strengthen our campus community. The proceeds of this year's exclusive long-sleeved t-shirts will support the Student Emergency Fund. What is SAD?
Seasonal Affective Disorder is also known as “Winter Depression” because symptoms of SAD tend to be more severe in the winter months, but SAD symptoms can also appear in the summer months for some people.
Symptoms of SAD:
Feeling tired more than usual
Low engery
Loss of interest in activities
Craving carbohydrates and overeating
May experience weight gain “Winter weight”
Difficulty concentrating
Depressive symptoms
Coping with SAD:
Use light therapy—there is a special lamp called a light box which is used to simulate exposure to the sun. This light is safe and does not have UVA or UVB rays. You can find these light boxes in the counselor center!
Sleep—Remember, sleep is extremely important to your mental health. In the darker months, it is especially important to pay attention to your sleep schedule and get enough sleep.
Regular exercise—getting regular exercise will help create natural feel-good neurotransmitters (endorphins) which can help you feel better. Going for a simple walk, or a 10 minute yoga stretch can help increase endorphins.
