Student Org Halloween Window Decorating Contest
Do you want to win prizes and bragging rights for your student org? The University Library, in collaboration with the Involvement Center, is hosting the ninth annual Halloween Window Decorating Contest. This is a great way to promote your student organization to the campus community and maybe even add some new members! Painting will take place between now and October 29th. Then, on October 31st, judges will award prizes like a pizza party or vinyl banner to the windows voted “Best Decorated Window,” “Spookiest Theme,” and “Best Org Spirit.” We provide the paint and brushes – you just bring the creativity! Email Librarian Tanya Gunkel to sign up for a window no later than Monday, October 24th. She will then send details like the size of the window, painting details, etc.

“Autumn, the season that teaches us that change, can be beautiful.”-Heather Stillufsen
1. Get ready for Daylight Savings—Daylight Savings ends on November 6th , that means our clocks move back by one hour. Try helping your mind and body adjust by going to bed a little bit earlier before the clocks turn back.
2. Make fun cold-weather plans—it’s hard to find fun things to do in the cold weather. Consider cooking a new recipe, breaking out a board game, having a bonfire, or carving pumpkins.
3. Get some Vitamin D—get some sunlight and pay attention to your food. Vitimin D is important for your health. Most commonly you will get it from the sun. But it’s also naturally found in foods like fish, mushrooms, and egg yolks.
4. Pay attention to your physical health—if you are not feeling well, take a break. Common illnesses include the common cold and the flu. Be sure to wash your hands and be mindful if you are not feeling well.
5. Move—even just a little. Take a lap around the library, stand up and stretch, or schedule a walk with your friend. Moving your body helps wake up your mind, can give you more energy, and can boost your mood.
