Tuesday May 4th we'll be meeting at the CRCPRA to sow seeds in the western end of the property where the winter was spent clearing invasive species. The goal for the area being seeded is to support pollinator populations so the seed mix contains common prairie flowering plants like Bee balm, milkweeds, and black-eyed susans. The work shouldn't take too long so there should be plenty of time to take a hike around the site and check out the sights this spring, or to stop over at nearby Dobbs Landing to see the results of the recent prescribed burn in the areas where the NAC prepped fire breaks this fall.
Meet at the entrance kiosk at 5pm on Tuesday, wear sturdy shoes but no other protective gear will be necessary. We'll be spreading the seeds using sawdust to add extra volume for better dispersal so a mask might be a good idea to keep excess dust out of your nose and mouth.
