Mission
The American Fisheries Society seeks to:
a) Educate the general student body and community about local fish, fisheries management, invasive organisms, and conservation.
b) Cooperate with local private and public organizations to further enhance fisheries in surrounding water- bodies.
c) Train members in fish identification, boat operation, survey techniques, and other fisheries related experience.
d) Increase member accessibility to research and job opportunities.
e) Volunteering among the WDNR and local agencies to promote co-operation and networking
f) Assisting in the completion of UW - Stout fisheries research.
Membership Benefits
The benefit to being apart of AFS is that you are part of a larger Nationally recognized organization; the Wisconsin Chapter of American Fisheries Society. You benefit by learning hands-on practical skills and fish identification that are beneficial in the area of fisheries. You will learn how to use equipment properly and how to conduct surveys. Lastly, you benefit by being a part of an organization; using communication, following directions, being educated, and having fun.
