February 18
Our first event for this semester is a collaboration with UW Stout's Gender & Sexuality Alliance! As the LGBTQ+ community has a history of using accessories and flags to subtly signal community to one another, we will be using pony beads to create various jewelry and accessories featuring pride flags. Materials are provided and, as always, this event is open to all students so bring your friends!

April 22
Also known as "seed bombs", this Earth Day we will be making seed papers! These little pieces of biodegradable paper contain potent seeds of our area's native plants. Seed papers are a great way to work your creativity and care for our planet. Plant some of these little wonders to grow a valuable space for our local pollinators to gather and thrive. We only get one Earth, so we'd better do our part for it! |

March 11
To celebrate Women's History Month, we will be hosting a workshop centered on handicraft. Women and handicraft have often been associated with each other in a derogatory fashion; art like sewing or crochet are dismissed as "women's work". This March, we will be reclaiming the fiber arts as something to celebrate with a workshop for embroidery, needle felting, yarn work, and beyond!

May 6
As the semester comes to a close, we will be gathering once again to prepare for finals! Meet up with your peers to practice for upcoming tests, peer review your lesson plans and portfolios, and prepare for the semester's final assignments. We will also be discussing next year's AEA leadership, so be sure to make this meeting if you're interested in becoming an officer! |

[RSVP:2279946] Required! Do you want to learn about making your lessons more accessible? Are you interested in the world of adaptive tool design? This is the event for you! Passionate about art and education, Kathryn Rulien-Bareis has dedicated her career to inspiring creativity in others. With a background in art education, design, and her own artistic pursuits, she has had the opportunity to teach and learn with students of all ages in several school districts (including Menomonie and Eau Claire), colleges, and universities. Kathryn's thirty-eight years of teaching have made a lasting impact. Dedicated to empowering students with special needs through innovation, Kathryn is inventor of art tools, holding five US patents. She founded Prime Products, a student-run business encouraging entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Together, we can create, learn, and give back. Her leadership roles include several positions on the WAEA board and the Middle Level Divisional Director for NAEA. After retirement Kathryn continues mentoring young and adult artists by finding art classrooms whenever she can.
