DESCRIPTION:The School of Art and Design’s Sabbatical Exhibition series presents Uncertainty Is Not Chaos, featuring recent work by Daniel Atyim, Associate Professor in the department of Visual and Performing Arts. On view at the Furlong Gallery from March 13 to April 19, 2025, the exhibition opens with a reception on March 13 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Furlong Gallery will also host a Meet the Artist event with Atyim on April 11 at 3 p.m.\n \nAtyim’s paintings, drawings, and sculptures balance precision with playfulness, embracing unpredictability. His compositions, marked by striking color relationships, layered surfaces, and an acute sense of rhythm, reflect an intuitive process where impulse and structure converge.\n \nAtyim’s approach to painting revels in the act of making—an embrace of the present moment that is rooted in repetition. His works carry a distinct cadence, at times sharp-witted, at times disarmingly sincere, often walking a fine line between the obscure and the familiar.
