To what extent were the founding fathers (George Washington. John Adams, Thomson Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, etc.) and the founding mothers (Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, etc.) complicit in the slave trade? How did they reconcile their commitment to liberty and freedom with explicit and open enslavement?

Join Dr. Edward J. Larson for an informal, relaxed conversation surrounding these questions. Dr. Larson is the Hugh and Hazel Darling Chair in Law and University Professor at Pepperdine University. Larson is the author of seven books and is the recipient of the 1998 Pulitzer Prize in History.

This event is Wednesday, November 15th, from 7:00-8:00pm at Brewery Nonic. This is the follow-up event for Dr. Larson's talk, from 3:00-4:30pm at the Memorial Student Center (Ballroom A).
