Queerness and Kink: Resistance through Sex

LGBTQIA+…K? Queerness and Kink often share spaces, both geographically and within academia. Kink and BDSM are also a part of radical Queer history. Does it seem like the Venn Diagram between Queerness and Kink looks more like a circle? Are Queer folks more likely to be kinky than their heterosexual counterparts? Is Kink inherently Queer? Please join the Gender and Sexuality Alliance as we welcome Nakkiah Stampfli, alias Freydís Mora, as they discuss the relationship between the LGBTQIA+ and BDSM-Kink-Fetish communities and how the two communities engage with each other.
Freydís (they/them/theirs) has been a Sex & BDSM-Kink-Fetish educator and Sex Work(er) Advocate since 2017. They have served in leadership roles in the BDSM-Kink-Fetish communities of Southern Illinois, including two terms as President of ALIAS at Southern Illinois University, and currently in West Central Wisconsin. Freydís has presented at national BDSM-Kink-Fetish conventions such as Spanksgiving and Beat Me in St. Louis (St. Louis, MO), for local groups and organizations, as well as presenting on BDSM-Kink-Fetish topics in academic arenas. Topics Freydís has covered include Ethical Non-Monogamy & Polyamory; Age Play; Pet Play; Impact Play; and BDSM-Kink-Fetish Scene and Event Etiquette.
